Brake shoes are a core component of drum braking systems. Their main body is a crescent-shaped cast structure covered with a layer of friction material. As a critical wear part of the active safety system, they extend outwards through the mechanical action of the brake wheel cylinder or pushrod mechanism, allowing the friction surface to contact the inner wall of the rotating brake drum and generate friction, thereby achieving vehicle deceleration or stopping.
According to the 2024 automotive maintenance standards, brake shoes must be replaced when the friction material wears to less than 3 mm. This component is typically made of HT250 gray cast iron and is riveted to the brake pads to form an integral assembly. Because it withstands the normal force, tangential force, and support reaction force of the brake drum over a long period, its heat resistance and wear resistance directly affect driving safety.
